Parents To Protest “Drug Death Markets” in Sacramento on Monday, Aug. 16, 2021
“Day of Action Against Drug Deaths”
10 AM: “Debunking Drug Death Myths” :: Sacramento Grand Hotel
12 Noon: Rally on North Capitol Steps Demanding Urgent Action
2 PM: Protest Deadly Drug Dealers Downtown (exact location TBD)
Parents whose children are addicted to fentanyl and other hard drugs will protest dangerous drug dealers at 2 pm on Monday, August 16, in downtown Sacramento. They will be joined by parents whose children were killed by fentanyl poisoning over the last year.
Both groups of parents are part of a new statewide “California Peace Coalition,” which is overseeing a “Day of Action Against Drug Deaths.” They are demanding that lawmakers shut down deadly illicit drug markets, establish universal psychiatric care for all Californians, and move from a Housing First to a Shelter First policy to end unsheltered homelessness.
The parents protested dangerous drug dealing in San Francisco in June, in Venice Beach in July, and on Snapchat in July. They are now taking their protest campaign statewide. They formed the California Peace Coalition with recovering addicts and neighborhood activists.
The group has sent an open letter to the people of California, and to California lawmakers, describing the problem and the solutions to it.
